Intern placement
We are looking for a placement student for a rotational program: six months with Internal Audit and then six months with Risk (or vice versa).
As part of this rotational program you will develop a broad skill set rotating between the two departments, gaining cross-functional knowledge and offering valuable, well-rounded work experience that enhances your professional development.
Purpose
Triodos Bank is a leading expert in sustainable banking, making money work for positive change in society. Triodos was founded in 1980 in the Netherlands, with branches in Belgium, Germany, United Kingdom, and Spain.
The Risk / Internal Audit Internship will give you exposure to both the second line of defence and third line of defence respectively. Operating as part of the Triodos Internal Audit and Risk teams (on a rotation basis), you will support Triodos in delivering department objectives whilst utilising your own knowledge / perspective to support these.
You will work effectively within Risk / Internal Audit to ensure that impact, customer service, and business objectives are given utmost priority. Working co-operatively with other departments to maximise efficiency and collaboration, taking personal responsibility for your own development activities for the duration of the placement. You bring enthusiasm and motivation and will contribute to a collaborative work environment.
Profiel
Requirements
In order to do an internship at Triodos Bank, you must be enrolled as a student in a Dutch or other European university and must be enrolled as a student during your internship.
Desired Experience
- A friendly persona and flexible ‘can do’ attitude combined with an affinity to the Triodos values is essential
- A genuine interest in positive social and environmental change
- Good interpersonal and organisational skills
- A diverse thinker with an adaptable and flexible approach
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- An ability to work confidently and effectively with internal teams and external partners
- A good working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, as well as an ability to quickly learn how to use other IT support systems as needed.
Desirable Experience (not essential)
- Report writing & presentation skills
- Previous experience in a customer or public-facing role.

Accountable To
Group director Internal Audit / Group director Operational Risk Management (with direct account at manager level).
Key Working Relationships - Internal
Operational Risk Management and Internal Audit team members are primary contacts, but both functions maintain cross-organisational contacts (e.g. Credit Risk, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, HR, ICT, Operations) depending on the assignment.
International Group colleagues where applicable.
Working Relationships – External
Third party suppliers where applicable.
Responsibilities
Risk
- Providing support on aspects of Operational Risk Management including project work and monitoring and risk reporting with exposure to Group requirements, structures, and policies
- Attending internal committees, forums, workshops etc. representing the team
- Working with business units across the bank on a range of different risk issues and risk programs
- Owning and delivering on agreed tasks within agreed deadlines.
Audit
- Providing support on the delivery of the Group Internal Audit plan for Triodos Bank
- Working with Group Internal Audit on professional practices updates and research into professional and regulatory requirements
- Utilising own knowledge to bring a different perspective to both the Internal Audits and the methodology
- Owning and delivering on agreed tasks within agreed deadlines.
General responsibilities
- Owning and delivering on agreed tasks within projected / assigned work
- Providing feedback / insights on policies and processes with a mindset of continuous improvement
- Comply with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to help ensure ethical behaviour which delivers fair outcomes for customers
- Any other duties that may be required from time to time.
